Who does what

Here's what each of us does.

My Money Mentors

Connects you

Asks a few quick questions and, with your consent, passes your request to the right kind of business. We don't give advice or arrange loans or products.

The expert

Gives you the help

A mortgage broker, financial adviser or registered tax agent contacts you, tells you who they are and what they charge, answers your questions and works through your situation with you.

You

Decide

Ask questions, compare your options and decide whether to go ahead. There's no obligation at any point.

Step by step

  1. Answer a few quick questions

Roughly what your home is worth and what's owing on your mortgage, your household income and super, your age bracket and your state. Every answer is a range, so a rough idea is fine. It takes about 2 minutes, and there's nothing to upload.

  2. Find out straight away if we can help

If the businesses we work with aren't the right fit for your situation, we'll tell you there and then, and we won't ask for your details.

  3. Ask to be contacted

Add your name and mobile (we text you a code to confirm it), then your email, and tick the box to accept our Terms. Only then do we pass your request on.

  4. The expert gets in touch

Usually within 3 business days. They tell you who they are, give you their licence or registration details and explain any fees.

  5. You decide

If you'd like their help, you deal with them directly from there. If not, that's fine too.

Documents you may see

Each kind of expert has its own paperwork.

From a mortgage broker

A Credit Guide (who they are, their licence, how they're paid and how to complain) and, before you apply, details of their fees and commissions.

From a financial adviser

A Financial Services Guide, and a Statement of Advice setting out their advice, the reasons for it and what it costs.

From a tax agent

Usually an engagement letter setting out the work they'll do for you and their fees.

What you can expect from us

  • We only pass your details on when you ask and tick the box to accept our Terms, and only to a business that suits your request.
  • You can withdraw your consent at any time.
  • We'll tell you which business received your details if you ask.
  • We don't give advice, and we don't sell or recommend properties or products. The choices are yours.
  • We're upfront about how we're paid. My Money Mentors may receive a referral fee or other benefit from the businesses we pass requests to. We'll tell you which business received your details if you ask.
